About

The Boston Key Gala is the American Cancer Society’s premier New England fundraiser supporting the Hope Lodge in Boston – a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers traveling to Boston to receive lifesaving treatment. Since its opening in 2008, the Hope Lodge in Boston has saved an estimated $71 million in out-of-pocket expenses and provided over 20,000 nights of free lodging to over 800 patients & caregivers and over 6 million rides to and from treatment.

Join us on Friday, November 6th at the SoWa Power Station in Boston’s South End. We’re bringing top industry leaders and philanthropists together for an incredible night of culinary excellence, premier entertainment, and exclusive live auction–all to ensure everyone has access to lifesaving cancer care.

Event Chair

Fred Hussey

The Boston Key Gala is honored to announce longtime American Cancer Society supporter, Fred Hussey, as chair of the 2026 event.

Fred graduated from Babson College with a degree in Finance and Communications and began his financial services career in 1986 with UBS.

Fred’s connection to the American Cancer Society is deeply personal. After losing his mother to breast cancer in 1984, he stumbled upon a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk along the Boston Esplanade in 1993 and never looked back. What followed was thirty-plus years of service:  finance committee work, chairing a golf tournament for seven years, a board seat in 2011, and eventually Chair of the ACS New England Division Board. In 2016, he helped launch Real Men Wear Pink. His work has earned him the Sandra C. Labaree Award (2008) and a spot as Lifetime Achievement Award Finalist for Invest in Others (2022).

Fred resides in Hingham, Massachusetts with his wife, Tracy. His three children all live and work in Boston.

“I know she’s looking down. And I’m sure she’s pretty proud.”

Our Mission

Mission Funding: Hope Lodge

American Cancer Society Hope Lodge® communities offer a home away from home for people facing cancer and their caregivers when cancer treatment is far away. Our 30+ Hope Lodge communities provide a free place to stay during treatment so people with cancer can focus on getting better. These communities provide comfortable guest suites with private baths, as well as inviting spaces with all the comforts of home, including a communal kitchen, dining area, laundry rooms, and places to gather or find a quiet respite – all at no cost to guests.

Hope Lodge guests don’t just find a place to stay – they find a community of support and an emotional connection with others facing the same journey
